Description
This exceptional cognac comes from the meeting between a terroir and a year offering specific climatic conditions, a rare event that only happens once. The know-how of the cellar master consists of defining the moment when an eau-de-vie is ready to exhibit the finesse, purity and rarity of nature. Each year, a new cognac will be added to the Vintage Edition: a single eau-de-vie from a single terroir, in a specific year. Presented in a precious numbered bottle, it will be offered to collectors in exceptionally limited quantities, representing the very last barrels of these rare eaux-de-vie.
To create the Vintage Edition, Christophe Valtaud selected a remarkable Borderies eau-de-vie from the Gallienne estate, the emblematic vineyard of the Martell family. It was produced in 1999, a difficult year in terms of climate, which led to a drop in harvested volumes while offering rarer and better quality grapes. In February 2000, immediately after distillation, the brandy was transferred to fine-grained oak barrels to undergo an aging process for 23 years and achieve its aromatic richness.
Martell Single Cru Borderies 1999 offers a complete organoleptic experience, representing the purest expression of the best of the Borderies terroir that year. The characteristic notes of candied fruits and linden flowers are complemented by invigorating touches of citrus, while an extraordinary sweetness creates a rich and fruity dimension on the palate.
